Ms. Gish is the Regional Women's Health Coordinator for Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Region VI, located in Dallas, Texas. She is responsible for working with community based health and social organizations, state and local health departments, tribal organizations, academic institutions, consumers and health professionals concerning women's health issues in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Ms. Gish received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and her master's degree in nursing with a specialty in the area of nurse-midwifery from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout her professional career in public health, she has worked with communities to develop health programs that involve health promotion/prevention activities for the family and their community. This year's theme, "Healthy Women-Healthy Families-Healthy Communities".
Ms. Gish joined the Region VI Office on Women's Health in 2000, and continues to work to secure programs and activities to improve the health of women across the lifespan by providing leadership, promoting women's health partnerships, and encouraging health policy changes to increase health equity through a gender-centered approach to women and girls.
