ACA recognizes the importance of early detection of alcoholism and believes alcoholics are worth helping. ACA’s purpose is to help educate the public to understand that: alcoholism is a treatable chronic disease; alcoholics can be helped and respond well to treatment; alcoholism is a public health problem, therefore a pubic responsibility.
