Edward N. Blakely, Jr. - Associate Administrator Citizen Services and Communications
Edward N. Blakely, Jr. became Associate Administrator of the Office of Citizen Services and Communications (OCSC) effective March 12, 2007.
Before serving as head of OCSC, Mr. Blakely was Director of the Department of Strategic Communication for Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. In this position, he provided senior counsel and support, specifically conducting a communications, marketing and advertising audit of each major state agency, saving the state thousands of taxpayer dollars.
Prior to this, Mr. Blakely worked at the Alexandria-based advertising firm of Smith & Harroff in Virginia where his projects included co-writing and directing marketing videos for the American Defense Preparedness Association, Andersen Consulting, Wheelabrator Technologies, Alcan Aluminum and Westinghouse.
OCSC houses GSA’s internal and external communications capabilities into a single organization. OCSC’s Office of Citizen Services provides public access to information and services required by the public – as well as other federal government agencies – via the Internet, email, telephone, fax and print. Through its Office of Communications, OCSC offers a full range of communication and marketing services to the media, federal agencies and GSA employees.
A native of Southern California, Mr. Blakely graduated from the University of Southern California in 1965.
He and his wife currently reside in Annapolis, Maryland.
