Leslie A. Nicholson - General CounselLeslie A. Nicholson (Les) was appointed General Counsel of GSA effective June 9, 2008. In his role as General Counsel, Mr. Nicholson assumes daily management of GSA's legal department and oversees the legal affairs of the agency. He advises the Administrator and other officials of the agency on all areas of agency's mission, including contracting, information technology, travel and transportation, real estate, construction, agency litigation, personnel and labor relations, equal employment, GSA Fleet, personal property management and disposal and ethics. Previously, Mr. Nicholson was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of a $12 billion regional bank, where he was responsible for all legal and compliance matters, internal auditing, technology security, contingency planning/disaster recovery, community reinvestment and government relations at the state and federal level. Before that, Mr. Nicholson chaired the Litigation Department of a large national law firm. He also served on the Board of Governors of the American College of Construction Lawyers, taught Advanced Commercial Real Estate seminars at the University of Virginia School of Law and was a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Mr. Nicholson is a graduate of Louisiana State University and Vanderbilt University School of Law. He is a member of the DC Bar and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Les now lives in Chevy Chase with his wife. They have a son, a daughter and two little grandchildren.
