APRIL SHOWS DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH FOR INTERNATIONAL VISITATION
LEVELS The U.S. Department of Commerce today announced that 3.4 million international visitors traveled to the United States in April 2004, representing an increase of 28 percent from April 2003. This continues positive growth from the first quarter of 2004, which was up 12 percent from the first quarter 2003. Arrivals for the first four months of 2004 totaled 11.4 million, an increase of 16 percent from the same period last year. "The increase in visitation to the U.S. is good news for our growing economy," said Deputy Assistant Secretary Douglas B. Baker.
