BUSH ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL AND CONGRESSMAN MARK GREEN
SPOTLIGHT TRADE IN WISCONSIN
Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Receives Commerce Department
Export Achievement Award

Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Trade Development Linda Conlin and Congressman Mark Green (R-Green Bay) today presented the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce with the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Achievement Award. This award recognizes the Chamber's efforts to help local businesses create jobs and grow through trade.

"The Chamber's work in helping Green Bay businesses diversify and navigate the world marketplace has contributed to the success of many local businesses as well as to the creation of more local jobs," said Conlin. "This is why the Bush Administration continues to be committed to opening new markets for U.S. goods. When U.S. firms increase their exports, they contribute to a stronger American economy and an increase in overall global economic prosperity."

The Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce was presented with the award for its major contributions to the exporting success of businesses in Northeastern Wisconsin. Through its International Development Program, the Chamber promotes international trade and investment throughout the Green Bay area by providing the business community with a comprehensive range of programs, services and information. This enables these businesses to enhance their position in the global marketplace.

In addition, the Chamber has worked in partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce, state and local government agencies, and colleges and universities in the Green Bay area to help companies develop the necessary skills to succeed in today's global environment.

The Commerce Department's Export Achievement Certificate recognizes export promotion organizations and business clients of the Department's Commercial Service that have used its services to make their first export sale, open new foreign markets, or help local businesses grow through trade.

The Office of Trade Development (TD) at the U.S. Department of Commerce offers U.S. businesses resources and services for all stages of the exporting process. With industry-focused experts to provide strategic research and analysis, TD helps small and large U.S. businesses access the global marketplace. TD also administers 1-800-USA-TRADE, a nationwide hotline available to companies seeking government export assistance and counseling.
