Gutierrez Highlights Importance of Open Markets and Innovation to Keep America’s Economy Competitive
Washington (Oct. 2)—In a keynote address to AdvaMed, an association of U.S. medical technology companies, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez highlighted the growing contribution of exports to America’s overall economic strength. He discussed how Congressional passage of pending Free Trade Agreements with Peru, Colombia, Panama and South Korea would open up markets of more than 126 million people with a combined GDP of $1.1 trillion, creating additional export opportunities for the medical technology industry and all of our nation’s farmers, small businesses and workers.
