Secretary Gutierrez Hails 44th Straight Month of Job Growth
Washington (May 4)—U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez issued a statement on the April Employment Report. The report showed that 88,000 new jobs were created in April and that the unemployment rate was a low 4.5 percent. He noted that it was the 44th consecutive month of job growth in an economy that has created nearly 8 million jobs since August 2003. He said the U.S. economy has overcome adversity and proven its strength and resilience time and again. (More)
