OPPT's Community Air Screening How-To Manual provides a step by step process for screening and prioritizing air quality concerns in a community partnership.
Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) In addition to these resources, a new Community Action for a Renewed Environment program is available at the EPA. The new CARE program is a competitive grant program that offers an innovative way for communities to take action to reduce toxic pollution. CARE helps communities through local action, providing technical support and federal funding directly to the collaborative partnership working at the local level. Lead Programs. Lead is a highly toxic metal that was used for many years in products found in and around our homes from lead in paint, dust, and soil. Lead may cause a range of health effects, from behavioral problems and learning disabilities, to seizures and death. Children 6 years old and under are most at risk, because their bodies are growing quickly.
