News Release OSHA News Release: [07/27/2004] OSHA, NIOSH Initiatives are Focus of Upcoming NACOSH Public MeetingLabor Department Announces New Members of OSHA Advisory Committee WASHINGTONThe National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) will hold an open meeting on Aug. 18, 2004, in Washington, D.C. Agenda items include updates on activities of both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Presentations will also be made on enforcement indicators, VPP and partnerships, regulatory issues, Hispanic Summit, and NIOSHs Steps to a Healthier U.S. Workforce Initiative. The meeting notice appeared in todays Federal Register. The U.S. Department of Labor also announced the appointment of five new members to the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH). The newly appointed members are: Public Representatives Safety Representative Health Representative Management Category The NACOSH meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Room N3437 (A-C) of the Department of Labors Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20210. NACOSH was established under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and advises the Secretaries of Labor and Health and Human Services on occupational safety and health programs. Members of the 12-person advisory committee are chosen on the basis of their knowledge and experience in occupational safety and health.
