Office of US-VISIT

Mission

US-VISIT (United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology) was established in order to accurately record the entry and exit of travelers to the United States by collecting biographic information and biometrics—digital fingerprints and photographs.

Purpose

US-VISIT is part of a continuum of security measures that begins overseas and continues through a visitor’s arrival in and departure from the United States. It incorporates eligibility determinations made by both the departments of Homeland Security and State.

Goal

US-VISIT is a top priority for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security because it:

  • Enhances the security of our citizens and visitors
  • Facilitates legitimate travel and trade
  • Ensures the integrity of our immigration system
  • Protects the privacy of our visitors

Organization

US-VISIT is led by Director Robert A. Mocny.
