SUBJECT: Establishment of New Contract for Digital Color Printing and Other Printing Services

The Government Printing Office is proposing the establishment of a general usage "Short Run, Short Turn Around" contract for digital color printing and other printing services. The contract is anticipated to be a partnership with Envision, a National Industries for the Blind nonprofit organization, under the Javits, Wagner, O'Day (JWOD) Act. The following is a brief listing of what would normally be considered "short run" quantities. Larger print quantities could be produced with longer turn-around times. The times listed are after a final proof has been approved.

Books and Pamphlets: Less than 2,000 copies and up to 96 pages with a turn-around time of 72 hours. Includes binding by saddle stitch, perfect bind, or tape bind.

Copying: Less than 25,000 impressions (black and white) or less than 10,000 impressions (color copies) with a turn-around time of 24 hours.

Posters (also described as large-format printing): Less than 25 pieces with a turn-around time of 48 hours. Mounting and special mounting may add additional time. The maximum width of large format printing is 43" with almost unlimited length.

If you are interested in utilizing this contract, please e-mail David McDaris, Departmental Account Representative Division, at dmcdaris@gpo.gov by October 3, 2003. If you have any questions about the contract, please call Tony Valentine, Analysis & Review Staff, on 202-512-0376.
