I am very pleased that President Bush has selected Ken Wainstein to serve as his Assistant for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism.   Ken brings to this critical job nearly a generation’s worth of devoted and honorable service to our country in a law enforcement and counterterrorism capacity.  As U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Assistant Attorney General for National Security, and General Counsel and Chief of Staff at the FBI, he has the expertise and experience to work effectively with my Department and its people to protect our country against terrorism and other threats to America’s safety.

I am confident that Ken will continue serving the President and our country with distinction in his new position and I look forward to working closely with him to protect our homeland.
