A CR is conducted to investigate potential safety violations, to investigate complaints, or is in
response to a carrier's request for a change in safety rating. The results of
the CR may result in the initiation of an enforcement action. It
is intended that through education, heightened safety regulation awareness, and
enforcement effects of the CR, motor carriers will improve the safety of their
commercial vehicle operations and, ultimately, reduce their involvement in crashes.
All Compliance Reviews accounted for in this report are Federal reviews and have been processed at the state level
and entered into the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS).
The reported Compliance Review activity is based on the Compliance Review date (the date the review was conducted) as
opposed to the date a safety rating was issued.
