Welcome to RIDOT's new website

Welcome to RIDOT's new website

Welcome to our newly redesigned website. You will find that RIDOT’s site now has many features similar to those at RI.gov, the Rhode Island web portal.

I hope you will take a few minutes to explore the site, as it has been reorganized. In the navigation menu you see at left, titles followed by a + symbol include a drop-down menu. By selecting one of the subtitles in the drop-down menu, you can go directly to a large number of RIDOT programs and topics.

Two major areas offer new features. Engineering is now a very large part of our website. This is where you will find Construction Projects, GIS Maps, and Intermodal Planning. Links in the Traffic menu go directly to our Transportation Management Center (TMC) for traffic cameras images, current travel advisories, and congestion mapping. The new Traveling RI link offers information on all Rhode Island interstate exits, and links to rail, transit and air services.

Use this new website to follow the openings and closings of ramps on I-95 and I-195. This process will continue through the fall.

This opening of the Iway’s I-95 South to I-195 East ramp is expected to take place in early December. With this opening, all traffic on I-95 South headed to I-195 will exit to a new ramp on the right side of the I-95 roadway.

Also, thank you to the voters who chose to vote yes on Question 1 on Election Day.  Approving this transportation funding will give Rhode Island the ability to take $80 million in State funds and match it with $436 million in Federal funds over the next two years.  Funding for RIPTA buses and commuter rail has also been secured.  Construction on highway and bridge projects, bike trails and greenways, and mass transit projects will continue, improving the quality of infrastructure and life for residents and visitors of the Ocean State.
