Many legal researchers are familiar with Cornell University's Legal Information Institute (LII), featured in a previous tip of the week. Another practical resource offered by Cornell is “DigitalCommons@ILR”, a project of the Martin P. Catherwood Library, School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR). It provides electronic access to material encompassing various aspects of the workplace as made available by the individual departments and centers within the School.

If you browse by “Research Unit, Center, or Department”, you will see under “Academic Departments”, for example, a link for Collective Bargaining, Labor Law, and Labor History. You can search the documents by keyword, or display a list of all documents by clicking on “Faculty Publications - Collective Bargaining, Labor Law, and Labor History”. Documents are organized by year of publication from current to 1976. Publications include Disparate Impact Under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (2004) by Michael Evan Gold and Training and Workforce Preparedness (1990) by Harry C. Katz.

Also of interest is the Employment and Disability Institute under “Centers, Institutes, Programs”. Documents are organized by year of publication from current to 1993 and include such titles as The Impact of Business Size on Employer Response (2006) by Susanne M. Bruyere, Dr. William Erickson, and Sara VanLooy, and A Guide to Disability Statistics from the National Health Interview Survey (2005) by Benjamin H. Harris, Gerry Hendershot, and David C. Stapleton.

If you browse “Journals and Peer-Reviewed Series”, you will see Industrial & Labor Relations Review, a journal issued quarterly since October 1947 covering all aspects of the employment relationship. The website contains the full text of articles and book reviews dating from April 2003 (Vol. 56, No. 3) to current.
