The Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration is committed to offering various programs and policies designed to enable employee’s better balance professional and family responsibilities.

Alternative Work Schedules
The linked handbook, with its appendices, provides detailed information on the administration of flexible and compressed work schedules, jointly referred to as alternative work schedules or AWS.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration encourages the use of telecommuting to the maximum extent possible. Employees eligible and approved to telecommute must execute a telecommuting work agreement with his/her supervisor that covers the terms and conditions of the telecommuting arrangement.

This program is part of the departmental Workforce Quality Division, M-14, in the Departmental Office of Human Resource Management. The heart of this program is the Fitness Center that helps DOT and other Federal employees feel and look better, maintain good health and be more productive.
Employee Assistance Program
This program provides a helping hand for dealing with personal problems and stresses and offers confidential assistance related to substance abuse.
