TI released arrival figures for January - November 1998. The arrivals are published in TI's "Summary of Intentional Travel to the U.S." report. The report can be purchased on-line in TI's web site. The public can also access monthly arrivals (Table C. from the Summary report) on Tourism Industries web site (in the monthly section) which provides monthly figures for 30 world regions and countries.

The December and YTD 1998 arrivals are expected to be released in early May. Tourism Industries expects 1999 data to be released on schedule. To purchase the year end Summary report or to purchase the monthly or quarterly subscription for 1999 go to TI's web site in the market analysis section, and then the Visitor Arrivals Program (I-94 Form).

INS I-94 System is Y2K Tested and Compatible

The Immigration and Naturalization Service recently tested and up-dated their processing system for the I-94 form (the source of arrival figures for the U.S.) to assure that the system is Y2K compatible. The 1998 October arrivals figures were the first data set to be processed in the new system. Tourism Industries along with other federal customers assisted INS in trouble shooting and identifying data anomalies. This delayed the release of the 1998 last quarter arrivals figures, but the steps taken by INS have assured that the I-94 processing system is ready for the millennium.
