3. 1999 Report Release Schedule
1. Release of International Visitors Arrivals for 1999
A record 48.5 million international travelers visited the United States in
1999. Canada's stronger economy, complimented by a recovering Asia, along
with Western Europe's relatively steady economic growth all played a major
role in the stronger than expected 5 percent growth in arrivals to the
United States.
According to the World Tourism Organization, the U.S. growth rate was one
of the highest among the top visited countries in 1999. Overseas traveler
growth was up by 3 percent, totaling 24.5 million arrivals, comprising 51
percent of the total international arrivals to the U.S.
For a full analysis and breakout of the arrivals figures, visit TI's web
site: see http://tinet.ita.doc.gov/outreachpages.
2. New Outreach Pages
http://tinet.ita.doc.gov/outreachpages
To better facilitate and organize the online research and analysis, TI has
developed a new Outreach section. These new pages are meant to improve
the "Stats Central" section of the web site providing faster access to the
most up-to-date analysis and summary reports.
The new Outreach section will feature both in-bound with the first page
focused on the arrivals analysis, arrival summary tables, in-depth arrival
reports, and links to the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service.
During Tourism Week (May 8 - 14, 2000) TI will add 23 more outreach pages
covering all world regions and top overseas markets. These targeted pages
will provide market specific analysis, summary reports, access to in-depth
research reports, press releases on important events and trade shows as
well as links to U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service offices.
