Gabriel Pellathy

Chief of Staff
for the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service

Gabriel Pellathy serves as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Commercial Service at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this role, Mr. Pellathy oversees a $230 million budget and long-range policy decisions helping U.S. companies in their export activities. He is responsible for day-to-day management of domestic and international operations of 1,600 employees in 110 U.S. cities and 80 countries.

Previously, Mr. Pellathy served as Senior Advisor in the Commerce Department developing policies affecting U.S. exports, focusing on sensitive technologies critical to U.S. national security. During his tenure, he served as overall policy and staff coordinator in a 400-person agency with policymaking, regulatory and law enforcement responsibilities promoting U.S. leadership in critical industry sectors. P rior to joining the Commerce Department, Mr. Pellathy was an attorney for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Liaison in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative .

Mr. Pellathy was raised in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and received his J.D. from Cornell Law School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Saint Vincent College, where he currently serves on the advisory board of the McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government . He is a Fulbright Scholar, a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a U.S.-Japan Leadership Program Fellow and Executive Committee Member.
