CIFTEE 2005

China International Exhibition on Financial Banking Technology & Equipment (CIFTEE 2006)

2006 Event Summary:

ciftee2006-1CIFTEE is China’s largest and sole exhibition showcasing banking technology & equipment.  The 2006 CIFTEE show drew more than 230 banking technology companies, of which half were foreign companies, including IBM, Cisco, SUN, NCR, Nixdorf, Diebold, and Fiserv, to name a few. The U.S. Commercial Service in Beijing organized a 17-company U.S. Pavilion at CIFTEE 2006.

The event kicked off on September 17, with People’s Bank of China Deputy Governor Su Ning's remarks presented to Chinese and foreign dignitaries, including Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs Barry Friedman, and an audience of hundreds of trade visitors.

During the high-profile, evening VIP tour held on September 18, 2006, the USA Pavilion played host to brief visits by Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of Chinese People's Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of the Standing Committee of Central Committee of Communist Party of China, Mr. Tang Jiaxuan, State Counselor, Mr. Hua Jianmin, State Counselor, and Mr. Li Guixian, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC.  Each distinguished official was greeted by Commercial Officer Richard Craig and introduced to the U.S. Pavilion exhibitors who gathered to meet them.

The eye-catching U.S. Pavilion design served to draw additional attention to the equipment and attractive displays of the exhibitors. Each also benefited from a free full-page advertisement in both the show catalogue and the U.S. Pavilion Exhibitor Directory, on-site services and help provided by the U.S. Commercial Service staff at the show.  Furthermore, during the event, visiting bankers asked to be introduced to specific exhibitors whose products were of specific interest.

During the event, the exhibitors at the U.S. Pavilion obtained many valuable trade leads. The U.S. Pavilion participants gave high scores to the Commercial Service and the CIFTEE event.
