Description:

Objective:

Examine the lichens of Callahan Mine an EPA Superfund site in Hancock County, Maine, contaminated with cadmium, copper and lead. We will compare our data with a baseline study of lichens inhabiting a peridotite outcrop in Deer Isle, Maine to determine if appropriate organisms can be identified to assist with decontamination.
