Under Secretary Mancuso Discusses Policy Agenda with National Foreign Trade Council

On Wednesday, August 22nd, Under Secretary Mario Mancuso addressed the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), a business organization that serves almost 400 member companies that conduct business worldwide.  Under Secretary Mancuso discussed the role of dual-use export controls in advancing U.S. economic and national security interests, the current environment in which they must be formulated and applied, and the Bureau's policy and management agenda going forward.

During his remarks, Under Secretary Mancuso discussed the long-term relationship between U.S. competitiveness, innovation and national security, and how that insight informs the dual-use export control regime.  Specifically, Under Secretary Mancuso described three categories of policy initiatives as high priorities: reforming and updating the dual-use export control system; accelerating international high technology engagement to expand secure U.S. trade around the world; and strengthening the Bureau's export control enforcement architecture and refining its enforcement activities.
