Going Green: The DFC is committed to becoming the most sustainable campus in the United States by the year 2020. To do this, we are working on a variety of projects that allow us to be more eco-friendly. Some of these projects are:

  • Replaced 22 regular fuel-powered vehicles with zero emission vehicles;
  • Selected by Xcel Energy for a one megawatt solar photovoltaic array power station located on six acres. The power generated by this system would power the equivalent of approximately 145 homes annually;
  • Recycled demolished building materials saving approximately $1.5 million dollars; and
  • Re-landscaped with drought-resistant vegetation (xeriscaping) to reduce water consumption.
