JOB SUMMARY:

The full promotion potential for this position is GS-12. This position is located with the DAS for Services, Office of Travel and Tourism Industries, within Manufacturing and Services. The incumbent will serve as a primary liaison with the Tourism Policy Council and global travel and tourism organizations, and will be responsible for other development of policy recommendations and implementation, as well as coordinating between OTTI and other organizations relating to the furthering the U.S. tourism development and exports.

MAJOR DUTIES:

The incumbent will assist in the development of policy recommendations and implementation, coordinating with other federal offices/agencies on policy integration. Additionally, the incumbent will work with the Director on the scope of the national tourism policy, facilitate in intergovernmental working group environments and serve as a point person for MOUs and international agreements. The incumbent will serve as the Secretariat for the Tourism Policy Council and other interagency working group(s).

The incumbent will coordinate international intergovernmental organization membership needs for OTTI, maintaining contact with OECD and APEC, WTO, etc., organizing and reviewing communications and work materials, and apprising the Director of policy considerations and actions requested by the organizations. The incumbent will coordinate between the Director and the Department on missions and other special projects that will further U.S. tourism development and exports. This will include preparation of talking points for management meetings and speeches, administering Market Development Cooperator Program grants, as requested, coordinating with the Office of Services' Technical Assistance Committee and the President's Export Council tourism subcommittee.
