South Africa was the 30th largest overseas travel market to the United States in 2002. South African travelers spend an average of $3,600 per capita in the U.S--the fourth highest per capita receipts from a top market for which data is available.

According to the Office of Travel & Tourism Industries’ newest international travel forecast, the South African market to the U.S. will grow steadily through 2007, approaching 90,000 visitors. From 2004 until 2007, U.S. arrivals from South Africa are forecasted to increase 5 to 6 percent each year.

Participate in the Travel & Getaway Show

South Africa's highly popular Travel & Getaway Show runs from March 26 -28, 2004 at Cape Town's new state-of-the-art International Convention Center near the world-famous V&A Waterfront. The show will exhibit products such as international and local tour destinations, rail journeys, cruises, game lodges, car rentals, hotels and airlines, as well as a vast range of outdoor adventure products.

To meet the demand for more information on U.S. products and services in this market, the U.S. Commercial Service is hosting a pavilion, "The Great American Outdoors," showcasing U.S. tourism destinations, outdoor adventure and recreational products. We invite you to become part of this dynamic event, either as an exhibitor or by displaying your catalogs.
