The Nordic region, which includes Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, has a population of 22 million, and generated nearly 700,000 visitors to the U.S. in 1999, an increase of 4% over 1998. Combined, the region spent over 1 billion dollars in travel expenditures during their trip to the U.S.

The Nordic countries' 1999 visitation breakdown is as follows:

Sweden - 314,000; an increase of 4% from 1998
Denmark - 146,000; an increase of 6% from 1998
Norway - 146,000; an increase of 2% from 1998
Finland - 91,000; an increase of 6% from 1998

By 2003, the U.S. Department of Commerce expects the region to grow by 24%, and top over 867,000 travelers to the U.S. This significant increase is forecasted mainly due to the region's high expected economic growth rate.

Make sure your destination/business is capturing this significant market - exhibit at Reiseliv 2001 in Oslo, Norway from January 11-14th, 2001. As Norway's premier travel and tourism show, the U.S. Commercial Service and the Visit USA Committee of Norway are sponsoring an official U.S. catalog exhibit.

The Commercial Service will provide staff that will attractively display and market your product literature at the show. They will also hand out information and collect leads for your products or services.

Participation at Reiseliv 2001 is your opportunity to increase your visibility and the flow of Nordic travelers to your destination. Last year, over 1,000 exhibitors from 60 nations attended the show, which drew over 12,000 travel industry trade attendees. The U.S. Pavilion generated an estimated $770,000 in immediate sales and bookings, as well as 385 sales leads.
