FAF1 State to State Commodity Flow Database

The following information is from the original Freight Analysis Framework (FAF1) database. It will be updated in FAF2 in late 2006.

The State to State Commodity Databases are available in two formats: Access 2000 and Tab delimited TXT.

The Domestic flows contain information on state to state patterns for 1998, 2010, 2020 for rail, air, water and highway in tons.

The international database actually consists of three separate files:

  • International: State to State flows of international products to\from U.S. gateways. Again, the information is for 1998, 2010, 2020 and for rail, air, water and highway.
  • STCC13-Petro: A supplemental file developed to capture movements of mostly pipeline flows or other oil flows not accounted for in the other International database.
  • International Air: Another supplemental file developed to examine air commodity forecasts. The file has some additional records, including a small portion of foreign shipments that do not have a U.S. destination or origin, and some domestic shipments that were manifested as international.
