Health services industry: still a job machine?

The accelerating employment growth in health services during the 1980s and early 1990s has slowed in recent years, but the industry continues to be a major source of new jobs in the United States. This article examines changes in the industry’s employment and earnings from 1987 to 1997 and in 1998.
