TDA gives $204,000 grant to Shanghai for Hospital Waste Disposal Feasibility Study

TDA gives $204,000 grant to ShanghaiMay 13, 2003, Shanghai, China – The U.S Trade and Development Agency (TDA) and the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau (SEPB) signed a $204,000 Grant Agreement today to conduct a Feasibility Study for Shanghai’s proposed Centralized Hospital Waste Disposal System.

American Consul General in Shanghai Doug Spelman and SEPB Vice Director Zhang Quan signed the grant for the TDA and the SEPB respectively. The newly appointed SEPB Director Dr. Xu Zuxin was also on hand for the ceremony.

Although this project has been in the pipeline for several months, China’s fight against SARS has cast a spotlight on the need for improved hospital waste collection and treatment management.

TDA gives $204,000 grant to ShanghaiQualified American environmental and consulting firms will have an opportunity to bid on this TDA project in the coming weeks. When approved, the RFP will be advertised at http://www.fedbizopps.gov.

TDA has given approximately $2.4 million in feasibility study grants, training grants and Orientation Visits (OV) grants to projects in the East China/Shanghai Region in sectors that include Environmental Protection, Transportation, Wastewater Treatment, Port Development and Energy Transmission. TDA is active throughout China.
