Drabkin Named GSAs Acting Chief Acquisition OfficerGSA # 10443 January 23, 2008 WASHINGTON – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced Monday that David Drabkin will serve as the agency’s Acting Chief Acquisition Officer. His appointment is effective immediately. “David brings invaluable experience and expertise to this critical position,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. “His energy and dedication are precisely what we need as GSA and the federal government continue to confront a number of challenging procurement and contracting issues.” Mr. Drabkin currently is the Deputy Chief Acquisition Officer and will serve as Acting Chief Acquisition Officer until a permanent appointment is made. GSA’s Office of the Chief Acquisition Officer (OCAO) is responsible for developing and reviewing acquisition policies, procedures and related training for GSA and federal acquisition professionals through the Federal Acquisition Institute, Civilian Acquisition Advisory Committee, Federal Acquisition Regulation and GSA’s acquisition manual and training programs. OCAO was established on June 4, 2004, to strengthen GSA’s acquisition activities and assure that best value acquisition services are delivered to federal agency customers in support of their missions of service, while balancing an emphasis on compliance, ethics and integrity. Mr. Drabkin, a native of Mount Vernon, New York has served GSA for more than seven years and most recently completed a detail to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He was appointed by the President to be a member of the Acquisition Advisory Panel. In addition, he served as Deputy Program Manager, Pentagon Renovation Program and as the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition Process and Policies), Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition Reform). ### Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government.
