Integration Links

The benefits of implementing ITS services increase with the integration of more than one implemented componenet. This is accomplished by creating a number of interfaces or "links" between the components. These links are used to share operational information and allow for sharing of infrastructure.

The figure below presents common links between ITS applications commonly implemented in metropolitan areas. Click on a link (circle) or component (rectangle) to access evaluations of systems involving the integration or component you select. The links are also available in categories covering integration related to Traffic Management, Transit Management, Traveler Information, and Emergency Response.
