Welcome to FTA and Region II. The Region II Office serves the states of New York, New Jersey, the commuter rail operations in the Southern Tier of Connecticut from New Haven to New York. The Region II Office is located in Lower Manhattan and has a total staff complement of 20 professional full time employees. The Region II Office also houses US DOT’s New York City Metropolitan Office. This Office is composed of FTA and FHWA employees and is designed to facilitate direct Federal assistance to New York City’s transportation concerns.
In Federal Fiscal Year 2006, Region II obligated over $1.87 billion dollars to its customers. The Region II Office manages a portfolio of 36 grantees with 800 plus open and active projects containing a net value of approximately $6 billion dollars. This funding has aided in sustaining, planning and the development of a variety of transportation projects throughout the region. Our goal is to provide unparalleled customer service to our grantees as well as the public and to ensure that the funds we award enhance the operations, safety and security of transit systems for service users by providing operationally safe equipment and facilities, as well as personal security and property protection.
