Commercial Service Booth at Expotech 2007

For the first time, the U.S. Commercial Service hosted a booth at ExpoTech 2007, the largest annual Palestinian Information and Communication Technology (ICT) event. The show drew more than 50 exhibitors; 36 from the West Bank and 15 from Gaza, and 20,000 tradeshow visitors. The U.S. Commercial Service organized the ICT Catalog Show for U.S. exporters of computer hardware and software, telecommunications equipment and services, printing and graphic equipment, business equipment, and consumer electronics to help U.S. firms tap the roughly $700 million Palestinian ICT market.

The U.S. Commercial Service successfully recruited eight U.S. companies, of which seven are new to the Palestinian market, to participate in its booth at Expotech 2007. In addition, many other American ICT firms were represented through their Palestinian agents. ExpoTech 2007 was held in Ramallah at al-Bireh Municipal Hall and concurrently in Gaza at the Rashad al-Shawa Hall.

United States Consul General Jacob Walles attended ExpoTech 2007 opening ceremony in Ramallah and accompanied high-ranking Palestinian officials on a tour of the exhibition. Consul General Walles also joined Palestinian Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Kamal Hassouneh in officially inaugurating the U.S. Commercial Service booth.

U.S. government participation in ExpoTech 2007 was part of a wide-ranging American effort to support the development of the Palestinian private sector and to encourage American companies to conduct business in the Palestinian Territories. U.S. companies represented at the U.S. Commercial Service booth were CellAntenna Corporation, EarthWalk Communications, Inc., Newdoll Enterprises LLC, Sintel Satellite Services, Inc., SoftWright LLC, SyAM Software, Inc., Transition Networks, Inc., and Wireless Interactive Comm., Inc.
