Subject content: These county-based maps show the greatest detail of any of the Census 2000 map types. Each map set consists of: 1) an index map sheet showing parent and inset map sheet coverage within a given county; 2) one or more parent sheets; 3) and inset sheet or sheets, as needed, for densely settled areas. Maps show names and appropriate codes for geographic areas. Maps also show streets, roads and other features, such as railroads, streams, and lakes, and their names.

Boundaries shown: Counties, minor civil divisions, census county divisions, incorporated places, census designated places, American Indian/Alaska Native/Hawaiian Home Land Areas, census tracts, voting districts (42 states and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico), block groups, and blocks.

The Public Law 94-171 version of the County Block Maps show voting district boundaries and codes in counties where states delineated them as part of the Census 2000 Redistricting Data Program. The voting district boundaries were those in effect just prior to the April 1, 2000 Census of Population and Housing. The block maps for the remaining eight states (California, Florida, Kentucky, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, and Wisconsin) show boundaries and codes for standard Census Bureau areas. For more information about the redistricting data and map products, see Census 2000 Redistricting Data Program.
