Subject content: Presents data for non-movers, movers within counties, and all county-to-county migration streams between 1985 and 1990. In New England, flows between minor civil divisions are shown. Data for this file are based on the responses to the 1990 Census of Population and Housing questionnaire item 14b. The data for each migration flow consist of a geographic record (area of origin and area of destination) and 21 tables showing the following characteristics: age, college enrollment, employment status, Hispanic origin, household type, income in 1989, industry, occupation, place of birth and citizenship, poverty status in 1989, race, sex, and tenure.

Geography: Data are provided for the District of Columbia; counties in 44 states (not including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont); and minor civil divisions in six states only (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont).

File format & software: ASCII (geographic records - 16 characters long) and compressed binary (migration counts for each geographic entity - 5 bytes (40 bits) long); "GO" display/retrieval software included on disc.
