The Office of Hazardous Materials Initiatives and Training (OHMIT) develops materials that make it easier to use the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR). Some OHMIT publications enhance general understanding of the regulations, while others focus on specific "niches" within which a training gap exists. Recent OHMIT publications have spotlighted specific topics such as hazardous materials transportation security provisions; rules that govern fumigants, cylinders, and materials of trade; and the regulations that apply to the transportation of infectious substances (to name just a few.) The training videos and interactive CD-ROMs available have been specifically designed to help the regulated community meet the training requirements set forth in the HMR.
