Secretary of State Colin L. Powell traveled to Tbilisi, Georgia and Moscow, Russia. He departed from Washington on January 23 and returned on January 27.

In Tbilisi, Secretary Powell attended the inauguration of President-elect Mikheil Saakashvili on January 25.

In Moscow, the Secretary met with Foreign Minister Ivanov and President Putin and also met with representatives of business, civil society, and the media.
