Title:Letter to Representative Peter DeFazio on Implementing OSHA Standards for Flight Attendants
Date:April 16, 2002
Type:Correspondence
Project ID:CC-2002-140
Summary:We reported to Congressman Peter DeFazio in response to his request for an update that FAA still has not made progress toward issuing standards that address occupational hazards faced by flight attendants. In our September 2001 audit report, we recommended that FAA, with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), establish milestones within 90 days to complete work begun in August 2000 and address safety and health concerns. Even though a joint FAA-OSHA team recently reconvened, we have little confidence that after 26 years, industry standards will be issued in the near future.
