Title:Further Delays in Implementing Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Flight Attendants Are Likely
Date:September 26, 2001
Type:Audit
Project ID:AV-2001-102
Summary:FAA has had authority since 1975 for occupational safety and health standards of crew aboard aircraft. Neither FAA nor OSHA has taken action to address health issues of flight attendants and other crew on board aircraft in operation, despite a joint determination that they needed to work on these issues. We recommended that FAA and OSHA establish milestones for addressing occupational health concerns identified in a December 2000 joint report. In addition, FAA should resume its proposed rulemaking to address workplace hazards on aircraft.
