Title:Audit of TSA Screener Security Program Begun
Date:March 07, 2002
Type:Announcement
Summary:We will be conducting an audit of the screener security program established after September 11, 2001. The audit will evaluate the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) policies, procedures, and practices to ensure air carrier passengers and their carry-on and checked baggage are adequately screened, as required by the Aviation and Transportation Security Act. Specifically, we will evaluate (1) prescreening and hiring of the workforce, including screeners, screener supervisors, and law enforcement officers; (2) controls instituted over screening service contracts; and (3) screener training programs, both initial and on the job.
