ITS Transit Typology

The original ITS Transit typology was developed about 5 years ago by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and Intelligent Transportation Society of American (ITSA) ITS Transit Stakeholders Group for the ITS Transit Impacts Matrix. The goal is to have a consistent definition and breakdown of ITS Transit services and technologies so the results of one study can be compared to another and projects can build on past efforts.

In Fall 2003, the ITS Transit team recognized the need to overhaul the ITS Transit typology to account for recent development of ITS Transit technologies and services. Consequently, the team reviewed the typology and modified its content and structure to make it more consistent as well as to accommodate new and emerging ITS technologies and services as appropriate.  The revised ITS Transit typology is presented here in Microsoft Excel format. All changes made to the original version are summarized at the end of the spreadsheet.
