EFLHD quote: Much like people, every road, every highway, has it's own personality... it's own character. Understanding that character, connecting with it, respecting it, that is the work of the Federal Lands Highway.

     Indian Reservation Roads (IRR)

The Indian Reservation Roads (IRR) Program provides funding for public roads that grant access to or within an Indian reservation, Indian lands, Indian communities, and Alaska Native villages. In addition, the IRR Program under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) includes a new bridge program for replacement or rehabilitation purposes. The IRR system consists of more than 27,000 miles of public roads owned by the BIA and Tribal governments and more than 59,000 miles of State and local public roads within the Indian lands or providing access to those lands.
