| Summary: | This report presents the results of our audit of the program for scrapping obsolete vessels controlled by the Maritime Administration (MARAD). The objectives of this review were to evaluate MARAD's progress in meeting its legislative mandate to dispose of obsolete vessels in the National Defense Reserve Fleet by September 30, 2001; identify what action MARAD has taken toward meeting the mandate; and identify potential alternatives to assist MARAD in achieving its goals. |
