Alternative Control Techniques Document--NOx Emissions From Industrial/Commercial/Institutional (ICI) Boilers.
powered by
This document describes available control techniques for reducing NOx emissions from ICI Boilers. Discussions of NOx formation and uncontrollable emission levels are included. NOx control techniques include staged combustion, low NOx burners, natural gas reburn, Flue gas recirculation, wet injection, selective noncatalytic reduction, and selective catalytic reduction. Achievable NOx emission levels, cost and cost effectiveness and environmental impacts for these controls are presented.
This document supports compliance by states with the NAAQS for ozone. It provides technical information on NOx controls for ICI boilers that state and local agencies may use to develop and implement regulatory programs to control NOx emissions from ICI boilers. It was prepared by EPA under Section 183(c) of new Subpart 2 to Part D, which was added to the CAA by the CAAA of 1990.
