REACH imposes significant new obligations on all manufacturers, importers and users of chemicals. Some chemical products, such as pesticides, biocides and pharmaceuticals, are exempt, however all other chemicals manufactured or imported into the EU at a minimum of one metric tonne per year will need to comply with the legislation. Manufacturers and importers will need to register the chemicals they supply for specific uses and ensure they are safe to human health and the environment. Users of chemicals will need to ensure their suppliers are registering the chemicals they use, ensure that their suppliers know how they use the chemicals and comply with any necessary risk management measures. Non-EU manufacturers who export to the EU cannot register their chemicals but must rely on their importers or appoint an EU-based ‘only representative’ to help them meet their REACH obligations.

Services for the initial phases of the REACH process:
• Provision of regulatory advice on a company’s obligations and responsibilities
• Vulnerability assessment to determine what your priorities and actions should be based on ‘risk’ factors to your business
• Initial assessment of chemicals manufactured, imported or used, to identify information required to support registration and data gaps that need to be filled
• Addressing data gaps through the use of chemical grouping and read-across, (Q)SARs and data waivers

Acting as an ‘Only Representative’ or ‘Third Party Representative’ (including representation in consortia and Substance Information Exchange Fora) Services for subsequent phases of the REACH process:
• Contributions to the establishment and management of consortia
• Pre-registration preparation and submission
• Commissioning and monitoring of non-vertebrate studies
• Production and submission of technical dossier to support registration (including production of testing proposals)
• Production of Chemical Safety Reports with Chemical Safety Assessments and Exposure Scenarios
• Liaison with the European Chemicals Agency and Competent Authorities in individual EU Member States.
