Fostering Regional Transportation Operations Collaboration and Coordination (RTOCC)

Building RTOCC’s is fundamental to supporting 21st century operations. These partnerships focus on convening a wide variety of stakeholders. There are activities that cross, functional and jurisdictional, boundaries such as traffic incident management programs, real time traveler information services, response to weather events, and emergency management. They all depend on collaboration, coordination, and even communication to achieve optimum performance and truly benefit the traveling public – the ultimate customer. For regional operations to be effective, those directly responsible for operating the system must agree on what measures to use to assess performance, a concept for how the system should be operated on a regional basis, and how to make changes to achieve desired improvements in system operating performance.
