Prevent Black Lung

Nearly every coal miner knows first hand the destructive impact of black lung disease. It can devastate a miner's quality of life, take its toll on a miner's family, and lead to premature death. While much progress has been made in reducing respirable dust levels in the mines, black lung (also known as coal workers' pneumoconiosis including silicosis) continues to occur among coal miners. The time to eliminate black lung is now.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration is presenting this page in an effort to help make the operators and the miners more aware of this serious disease. We are providing you with several resources for your use. These files may be downloaded and/or printed, whichever suits your needs.

Some or all of the files available on this page are PDF. For more information on PDF, PDF readers and accessibility issues, please use this link.
