Title:Deportation Ordered in Airport Security Badge Case
Date:October 10, 2001
Type:Investigation
Summary:Monica Zozaya, a former employee at Miami International Airport, was ordered deported by a U.S. District Court judge in Miami, FL, after pleading guilty to obtaining a security badge under false pretenses at the airport. She was among 12 illegal aliens charged on September 14 in Miami with making false security badges. The badges gave them illegal access to secure areas, including the airport tarmac ramp and baggage areas. So far, 11 of the 12 have been arrested, and 3 have been ordered deported. The Customs Service is assisting OIG in this ongoing investigation.
