Title:Aircraft Mechanic Pleads Guilty to Making False Statements on Application for FAA Mechanic’s Certificate

Summary:On May 2, Hugo A. Obregon pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Greensboro, NC to a felony charge of making false statements on an application for Airframe Mechanic’s Certificate. Joint investigation with FAA found that Obregon had provided false information regarding his pre-qualifying training and experience on an October 5, 2004 application. Had Obregon been successful in obtaining an FAA certificate, his subsequent work on commercial aircraft could have endangered the flying public. Sentencing is set for August 9.
